GTA 6 Launch Trailer: 90 Seconds, No Warning, and a Date That Is Not Moving

Rockstar did not tease it, did not schedule it, and did not call it Trailer 3. At 2pm BST on Thursday, October 15, the Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer simply appeared across every Rockstar channel. It runs 90 seconds, closes on November 19, 2026, and after two delays that date now looks as firm as anything Rockstar has ever committed to.

The trailer follows Jason and Lucia through a run of missions and set pieces across Leonida, with a new track from Justice, the French duo scoring the whole game. There is a lot of Vice City at night, a lot of water, and a few shots that fans have already pulled apart frame by frame. One thing that did not show up, according to Digital Foundry’s Rich Leadbetter, is any sign of Sony’s QSSR upscaler, which he described as expensive to run at 4K. Some viewers also found the footage softer than the earlier trailers, which has fueled a week of arguments about how the final game will look on a base PS5.

On PC the conversation is already about GTA 6 mods, even without a PC version to install them on. Rockstar’s September 10 modding guidelines restrict multiplayer mods to its own Creator Platform and ban cheat menus and paid mods, and while the document never names GTA 6, nobody thinks that is an accident.

The practical details

The practical details

Pre-loading on consoles begins November 12, a full week before launch. The standard edition is $79.99 in the US and £69.99 in the UK, with the Ultimate edition at $99.99 and £89.99 for extra vehicles and weapons. Physical editions ship as a download code in a box, not a disc, which is worth knowing if you were planning to buy a copy to lend or resell. The game is PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only at launch, with no PC date and nothing said about Switch 2.

Online is the other open question. The PlayStation Store listing calls GTA 6 “a single-player experience” and Rockstar has not confirmed an updated online mode for day one. The ESRB rating that posted on October 1 does include an in-game purchases notice, so something transactional is coming eventually.

The noise around the release

The noise around the release

Miami has started turning into Vice City for real, with branded buses and Burger Shot signage going up around the city, and Rockstar’s 34-track album with Atlantic Records drops the same day as the game. A former Rockstar animator told an interviewer that a six-month slip “would not be surprising,” which got a lot of pickup this week, but Rockstar has given no indication of a change and the launch trailer says the opposite.
